Sold

A charming French Napoleon III Bergere armchair dating from the late 19th century. The chair is of solid wood construction and is fairly low to the ground with a slightly arched back and low outwardly scrolled armrests. The seat rests upon ebonized turned legs on casters in the front and elegantly shaped legs in the back.

The chair has been deconstructed (as found) revealing the burlap lining (which we love!). Original straw and horsehair stuffing are still intact!

Whether left as-is or reupholstered in a fresh linen fabric, this classic accent chair is perfect for bringing a bit of French je ne sais quoi to any room of the home.

  • Found in France, circa 1880

  • Solid wood construction frame

  • Burlap lining is slightly worn at one knee

  • A few remnants of the original pink fabric remain

  • Multiple holes from the old upholstery nails give character to the wood frame

  • Sturdy, comfortable with overall wear consistent with age and use

  • Approximately 30 1/4” W x 36 1/4” D x 35 1/2” H

  • The seat measures 13” H from the floor

Available for pick up, local delivery, and nationwide shipping.
