19th Century Hungarian Zinc Roof Finial, Medium
The use of finials as decorative elements atop rooftops dates to Asian cultures as long ago as 700 A.D. Capturing dramatic elegance, while retaining its functional purpose of covering a gap in a roofline, zinc finials can be seen gracing the tops of buildings and homes across Europe. Enamored with its delicate form, we have attached this beautiful architectural fragment to a custom designed reclaimed wood stand, resulting in a wonderful, one-of-a-kind sculptural element to be displayed either inside the home or out.
Found in Hungary, 19th century
Finial has been fitted onto a (removable) custom stand constructed of wood salvaged from a local McKinney historic building
Wear consistent with age, removal from roof, and exposure to the elements over time
Overall dimensions approximately 8” W diameter at its widest point x 22 1/4” H
Zinc finial measures approximately 8” W diameter at its widest point x 19 1/2” H
