Antique Dough Box Kitchen Island
Once a practical piece used to proof bread, this wonderful old hand-crafted dough box would make a unique island in a smaller kitchen. Time-worn with a story to tell, the wood has aged to perfection. The planked top is crafted from elm and simply rests atop the pine base, making it easy to lift off and access the vast storage space within. Steel bars at each side offer stability and add a touch of contemporary flair.
Although the box is a bit low to use as a traditional island, casters could be added to raise it to a workable height.
Found in England, the mid-late 19th century
Constructed from solid pine and elm wood
The box has a slight lean
Minor wood separation and losses are present
Sturdy with no structural damage
