A quintessential French Napoleon III chaise lounge dating from the late 19th century that was once used in a French boudoir for resting between callers. Fairly low to the ground, the chaise is of solid wood construction with a slightly arched back, with a low outwardly scrolled arm that rests upon elegant-shaped legs.

The chair has been deconstructed (as found) revealing the burlap lining (which we love!), while the remaining cushioned portion of the chair features the original muslin liner, all of which is tacked into place utilizing nailhead trim. The seat back has been tufted utilizing a unique stitched pattern. Original horsehair stuffing is still intact!

Whether left as-is or reupholstered in a fresh linen fabric, this classic lounge is perfect for bringing a bit of French je ne sais quoi to any room of the home.

  • Found in France, circa 1880

  • Solid wood construction frame

  • Original fabric lining is worn in a few areas and shows some light staining

  • Overall wear is consistent with age and use

  • Approximately 64” L x 33 1/2” W x 34 1/2” H

  • Seat approximately 15 1/4” H
