Antique Swedish Mora Clock
Beautiful traditional Mora longcase clock featuring hand-carved foliage and reeded detailing. Soft shades of muted pale blue, gold, white, and “Swedish pink” (a muted shade of red) cover the body of the clock and have been hand-scraped offering an unrivaled patina. The clock embodies qualities of both the rounded “female” form of Mora clocks commonly found in southern Sweden, as seen in the upper body, while straight lines of the “male” counterpart, found in the north, are represented in the lower portion, resulting in a one-of-a-kind work of art. The clock’s iron face is overlaid with plaster and features hand-painted numerals.
With its graceful curves, and beautiful dry-scraped finish, this lovely Swedish Mora longcase clock is sure to be the focal point of any room.
Found in Dalarna, Sweden, dating to the early 1800s
The clock has been dry-scraped (as found)
Not currently in working condition; missing pendulum and iron weights
Iron hinges are present on head and belly of clock, which both open
Wear consistent with age and use
