The Hull Pottery Company was established in 1905 by Addis Emmet Hull, located in Crooksville, Ohio. Initially producing stoneware and semi-porcelain ware, Hull diversified and began specializing in lusterware and gardenware products aimed at the gift and floral industries. By the 1920s, Hull Pottery was producing over eight million items each year, and further grew in the 1940s as they expanded their line creating novelty items and pastel-hued artware. The Company is best known for its Little Red Riding Hood dinnerware collection of the 1940s and its high-gloss art pottery of the 1950s. Hull ceased operations in March 1986 as a result of rising costs, competition from imported ceramic products and issues with staff strikes.
