French Louis XVI Tapestry Armchair
A French Louis XVI period carved wood armchair from the late 18th century with an Aubusson tapestry upholstered balloon back.
Crafted from solid wood with mortise and tenon construction during the latter half of the 18th century, this beautiful armchair features a molded oval back that is covered in velvet, and is adorned with a carved bow upon its crest.
The seat back and arms of the chair are upholstered in a lovely tapestry, featuring a muted earth-tone color palette of a French gentleman and beautiful chateau garden scene, which is tacked in place with nailhead trim.
Two open arms with carved detailed knuckles rest upon the front legs and are adorned with carved rosettes at their knees. With its elegant silhouette and refined style, this chair will add a touch of French flair and old world charm to your home, whether placed in a living room or bedroom.
