The “Nicholson” or “English” workbench is credited to Peter Nicholson’s “Mechanic’s Companion” written in 1831. This classic design is made of simple construction, featuring a characteristic deep front apron drilled to enable the use of pegs and to support work vertically.

We found this old workbench in Amish country, Pennsylvania, and believe it would make a unique kitchen island or bathroom vanity.

  • Lightweight, but sturdy and built to last

  • One side of front apron has original paint, adding to its character

  • The wood vise is missing, but we are having a new one made!

  • Iron hardware

  • The picture shows the workbench resting on two feet levelers. Please note that the piece is level, our old barn floor is not!

  • Approximately 72” L x 25” W x 32” H

  • Additional 6” depth at vise

Available for pick up, local delivery, and nationwide shipping.
