We are firm believers that everything is better in a collection. A grouping of kindred items makes a far bigger statement than any one solitary object standing alone. When we came across this set of 16 old bells, we simply knew they could not be parted from one another. Each bears its own unique shape and has its own story to tell, but together they form a harmonious ensemble.

The history of bells dates back to the year 2000 BC where they played an important role in the life of Chinese culture. They were viewed as a musical instrument of the Gods, as items that could provide peace and clear minds, bring about happiness and ward off bad spirits. Although this grouping may have lost its pitch perfect musical abilities, we think they will definitely bring about a sense of cheerfulness when styled on a buffet, fireplace mantel, or bookshelf.

  • Found in Holland

  • Each bell features a lovely time-worn patina

  • Some are missing their clapper

  • Gold bell is a commemorative bell for the Battle of Verdun (1916) and is stamped “On ne passe pas” (They shall not pass)

  • Overall condition of each consistent with age and use

  • Bells range in size from approximately 1 1/2” W diameter x 2 1/4” H for the smallest, 3 1/2” W diameter x 3 3/8” H for the mid-size, and 4 3/4” W diameter x 5 1/8” H for the largest
