Vintage French Bread Proofing Basket
Vintage bread baskets were once used in a French bakery for proofing bread dough prior to baking. Hand-woven from wicker, the baskets would have originally been lined with linen. Twisted and wrapped around the center of the basket, the bread’s ends would be joined together to make a ring, or “Couronne”, meaning crown in French. Hang it on the wall to add texture and dimension to your decor or put it to use to serve bread at the table.
