Vintage Turtle Trot Lines, Oddity

$0.00
Sold

Handmade, vintage turtle trot lines, once used for trapping snapping turtles, consisting of a long length of rope with metal hooks attached and wrapped around a weathered piece of wood. One end of the line would have been tied to a tree or other fixed object on land, while the rope would stretch out over the water and the opposite end would be tied to a buoy with a heavy weight attached. The vast number of hooks would allow for the possibility of trapping multiple turtles at one time. A one-of-a-kind primitive collectible, and unique decorative accessory, for chelonologists, and turtle lovers alike.

  • Found in Ohio

  • A rustic wood piece is used to keep the lines from becoming tangled

  • Original metal hooks

  • Approximately 11 5/8” L x 8 1/2” W x 1 1/4” H (laying flat)

Available for pick up, local delivery, and nationwide shipping.
